I consider myself a fit person but I have to admit that Barry’s bootcamp kicked my butt!

A studio recently opened in West London and I had been dying to try their workouts for a while.

There is a choice between:

  • Arms and Abs
  • Butt and Legs
  • Chest, Back and Abs
  • Abs
  • Full Body

I really wanted to try a Full body session but the hours did not work with my schedule that week so I went with Butt & Legs. It was HARD! We had a quick induction before the class to show us how to operate the treadmill and just so we knew what to expect.

The session alternated between quick runs on the treadmill and floor exercises, with and without weights, such as jumping lunges, burpees etc. I have lower back pain issues so I went really light on the weight. The reason why the workout was so challenging for me was that I have always found running to be tough, especially interval training. Intervals are considered to be one of the most efficient methods for enhancing athletic performance so obviously it ain’t easy!

The fun thing about Barry’s Bootcamp is that you workout in a semi-dark room with music blasting. As you are unable to focus on what others are doing, you feel less self conscious and push yourself to the maximum while the coach is shouting his instructions and motivating you. It is not for everyone but personally I love it!

The facilities are nice and immaculate. You can order a fresh smoothie prior to your class and pick it up after your session.

I had a great time and will definitely go back. I have no doubt it will help me to get back to my pre-holiday shape.
